This simulates the hot water pump like that of the hot water extractor. When using a shop vac as an extractor you’ll want to saturate the top layer of the upholstery or carpet and agitate the soap with a brush and the vacuum it with the shop vac. It's important to consider the specific needs of a particular carpet, as well as cost and budget, when deciding which method to use. Hot water extractors are considered more effective at deep cleaning and removing stains, while shop vacs are more commonly used for surface cleaning and spot cleaning. In conclusion, while both hot water extractors and shop vacs can effectively clean carpets, they have distinct differences in their approach, effectiveness, and overall results. However, the long-term cost benefits of using a hot water extractor may outweigh the initial expense, as the deep cleaning results can extend the life of a carpet. In terms of cost, hot water extractors tend to be more expensive than shop vacs, both in terms of the initial purchase price and the cost of the cleaning solutions. Shop vacs, on the other hand, are typically more basic in design and may not have the same level of versatility. Hot water extractors are often used by professional carpet cleaners and are equipped with a variety of attachments and settings that can be adjusted to suit the specific needs of a particular carpet. Shop vacs are more commonly used for surface cleaning and spot cleaning, rather than deep cleaning entire carpets.Īnother key difference between the two methods is their versatility. While this method can effectively remove surface dirt and debris, it is less effective at removing deep-set stains and dirt. On the other hand, a shop vac uses suction to remove dirt and debris from the carpet. Hot water extractors are also equipped with powerful suction that can remove the majority of the water and cleaning solution from the carpet, leaving it almost dry. This method is often considered more effective at deep cleaning and removing stains, as the heat and cleaning solution can break down and remove even the toughest dirt and grime. While both methods can effectively clean carpets, they have distinct differences in their approach, effectiveness, and overall results.Ī hot water extractor machine uses a combination of hot water and a cleaning solution to clean carpets. Two popular methods for cleaning carpets are using a hot water extractor machine or using a shop vac. Cleaning carpets can be a daunting task, especially when trying to remove deep-set stains and dirt. ![]() ![]() Twist it anti clockwise until the screw comes free. Post Raisin Bran’s titular purple nuggets are oozing with juiciness and encrusted with a thick layer of sweetly sparkling sugar. You have no idea how hard it is to survive in a wordplay penitentiary when all you want to do is call it a “punitentiary.” I might even call them bran-tastic, but I’m already on thin ice with the pun police after that first one. Imagine off-brand wheat bread crust that chilled in the clearance aisle a little too long.īut despair not, my fellow raisin bran fanboys and fangirls, for there is good news: the raisins in Post Raisin Bran are fantastic. The flakes are uncomfortably chewy and mealy, with an undercurrent of toasted whole grain, but it isn’t golden, malted, or even all that sweet. Really, they don’t taste like much at all. Though saying they taste like ancient Egyptian monsters may be giving Post Raisin Bran’s flakes too much credit. One might even say the flakes taste like they’ve been chilling in the same vacuum-sealed bag for the past 74 years, like edible mummies made of crispy, paper-thin wheat. One might say they taste stale straight out of the box. Okay fine, I guess I’ll start with the bad news: Post Raisin Bran has lame flakes. What’s that you say? You’re on the other side of a computer monitor, hundreds of miles away and therefore can’t tell me which news you’d rather hear first, no matter how hard you yell and spook your cat? Would you like the good news or the bad news first? Not all the way back-I’ve already reviewed the first raisin bran ever created-but still back to 1942, when Post Raisin Bran debuted in the same year as Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, a simultaneous release that I can only imagine ended in West Side Story-esque rivalries between street gangs loyal to each respective bran brand.īut is Post the Raisin Bran with the most, or does Kellogg’s smiling sun melt away the competition? Time to unsheathe my spoon, ready my dental floss, and find out. Having travelled far, eaten a lot, and picked many raisins out of tricky tooth crevasses, it’s time for me to return again to raisin bran’s humble origins. I’ve been on a long quest to review every raisin bran cereal imaginable, a quest so exhaustive that I bran out of “raisin bran” puns months ago.

Next type in the 9-hole course rating and 9-hole slope rating. The subject line is well clear enough for you to not read the posts. PS To those that don't care about scramble please just ignore the posts, no need to read or comment. ![]() It is the first time the scramble has been used in our club so just a bit of a learning curve for the future. The 3 shot handicap difference alone would have put us equal first and in a share of the prize money. Our committee had simply looked up the 3 player handicap calculations for those who were a player short and are now in the process of reviewing how this is handled and now agree that it was unfair. Following further investigation the WHS 3 player handicapping appears to be intended for when the scramble is a 3 player event and is NOT designed for use with mixed 4 player and 3 player teams. Yes indeed we only hit 3 shots and as I said we had a double whammy of having a handicap hit and the loss of the 4th player's shots. I would manually calculate the average index of the 3 players and use that as the 4th player. I prefer 20% of A, 15% of B, 10% of C and 5% of D. I'm not a huge fan of how your club is calculating. Figuring the handicap is the difficult part. The way we would handle this type of situation at my club would be to allow 4 shots from each position, rotating the player that is taking the extra shot. It seems slightly unfair to penalize a team because a player dropped. If your team only played 3 shots from each location, you are at more of a disadvantage than just the handicap reduction. Anyhow I'm not here to argue with anyone I was just hoping for some reasoned input which I've found elsewhere.ĭid your team only hit 3 shots from each position? Or, did you have 1 player take a 2nd shot from each location? They are in a position to apply whatever rules they wish and hopefully the handicaps will be made more equitable in future. Clearly the 3 player handicap is NOT intended to be used in this situation and clearly the committee overlooked the implications. Based on what has happened here I would expect the committee to revise their application of handicaps so as to not penalise 3 player teams in a mixed 3/4 player format. This is the first time the Texas Scramble has been introduced. ![]() The team games are for fun but competition fees are paid and prizes awarded. But on 3rd and 5th weeks we have team competitions, Stableford, Yellow Dot, Cha Cha Cha, and where a team ends up with three players there are accepted ways of dealing with the team handicaps and it causes no problem. I’d personally just be happy that I got to play as some tournament committees eliminate the team of 3 based on the article.Īt our club we have regular weekly competitions where handicapping follows the recognised rules. Obviously in GB&I, these things are taken more serious as they have a WHS model for determining handicap and a group overseeing the formulas. ![]() Generally in the US, these types of events are informal charity type outings and handicapping is for the most part meaningless and while people would/might gripe no one would really care. So other than being upset you had 3 strokes taken away and you didn’t finished tied for first you think it’s the committees fault and they should let you have the handicap of a non existent partner And it states you can’t use the formula for a 3 man event because it unfair and also you can’t use the 4 person one because you don’t have 4. It states there is no recommendation and its up to the committee. I'll bring this issue up to our club committee for reconsideration should the format be played again. Had the missing person done one stroke better somewhere on the round we would have been outright winners. Had we had a handicap of 11 then the extra 3 strokes would have put us equal first. gives an explanation and if I've read it correctly our team, the only one to have a player ill on the morning of the competition, was unfairly treated by using the 3 player handicap inappropriately. There are handicaps for 4 player matches and handicaps for 3 player matches, but not for matches where there are mainly 4 player but some team arrives one player short.
